This is an intermediate station of the high-speed railway between Antequera and Granada. The station is located in parallel to the tracks, a lower bound due to the difference in level between the existing natural ground and the rail platform. The wild environment away from the city centre will allow a gradual approach to the station from the highway nearby.
The protection requirements of traveller’s flows through the platform and parking canopies led to a global covering concept that unifies the complex image.
The main building is located next to the tracks underpass, as a nexus between the two levels of passenger’s traffic, top (trains), bottom (vehicles). The roof that embraces the complex folds at its ends as a leaf blowing in the wind. In the main lobby, the two deck levels encounter in a vertical extension that generates a large skylight to bring in natural northern light into the station. The exterior walls of the station are set back so that the roof cantilevered perimeter produces permanent solar protection, which is a must in southern Spain.
