Centennial apartment building had remained unchanged since the completion in 1913. Our studio restored and modernized this building completely.
On the ground floor was created a new cafeteria, which is connected with a basement space. The basement space serves as a background and a gallery.
The cafeteria is linked with the street through large display windows, which can be opened completely in summer months.
Cars are transported to the new garage in the underground by rotating lift.
A new elevator was inserted in a narrow space alloted by staircase. This glassed elevator provides comfortable transport of people, baby coaches and also bikes.
Attic spaces and old ateliers were transformed into new apartments. One of the apartment units was designed as our own studio. In the two-storey volume are suspended two boxes, which serve as a meeting room and the main office.
In our proposal we wanted to increase a volume of the whole building. The house is placed in urban monuments preservation area. Any changes in this area are hardly possible. To the approval of the volume increase helped a higher building in U Akademie street.
In our proposal we could not modify a corner tower. The increased volume is offset from the corner tower by a large terrace. The terrace is linked with a living room of a maisonette apartment. From the terrace and the living room is a beautiful panorama view towards Stromovka park and Troja, on the other side of the apartment it is possible to watch Zizkov and Vitkov silhouettes.
