This project represents the transformation of a former industrial space in Madrid into a new loft apartment, reimagining the site through a careful and expressive architectural intervention. The project introduces a central courtyard that brings natural light and ventilation to the interior, enhancing the quality of the environment. A newly built volume, wrapped in a distinctive enclosure of molded insulation and integrated heat diffusers, defines the spatial and aesthetic character of the intervention.
Beyond its functional goals, the project is a statement in favor of craftsmanship and the value of skilled labor in contemporary construction. Contrary to the widespread reliance on industrialized systems, we collaborated with experienced artisans and professionals whose deep engagement with the making process led to exceptional results—both in terms of quality and cost-efficiency.
The design of the façade embodies this approach. Developed through a dual line of research—technical and conceptual—it functions as a passive thermal system while also serving as a sculptural composition. Its arcimboldesque assemblage pays homage to architectural figures that have influenced the studio’s thinking, turning the building itself into a layered narrative of technique, memory, and expression.
