徳島県の最南端に位置し、雄大な太平洋を臨む町。約110坪のゆとりある敷地に、ご夫婦、お子様2人の4人家族が住まう住宅の計画。見ての通り、屋根と壁で出来た大きな箱に、必要なだけの小さな箱を詰めて住宅にするという至極シンプルで明快なコンセプト。 梁と壁で構造を成立させ、柱の無い倉庫のような箱型の建物を形成し、個室、水廻り等住宅として必要な空間を壁と柱ではなく、箱で区切る。こうすることで、各個室の上部空間はロフト状となり、お子様たちの格好の遊び場として、また蔵書の多いお施主様の書庫、なにかとモノが増えがちな子育て世代の収納不足の解消にも一役買う。 内装はお施主様の意向を汲んだ、今まで設計してきた住宅の中でもトップクラスの潔さ。梁には焼き付けされた品番が残り、エントラスから続くモルタルの土間、間仕切り「箱」は構造用合板そのままの姿、壁面は塗装を施したがパテ埋めをせず、板の継ぎ目がはっきりと分かる状態。普段はクロスやタイルで覆い見せずに隠す素材達が、この住宅では堂々と姿を見せ主張し、他にない個性となる。 ただ、それを野放しにするのではなく、設計という規律をもって締め、一見ラフでありながらも一種の品を併せ持った住宅に昇華させた。
