Bryan Graf and Daniel Bock have been awarded, out of approx. 200 entries, with an Honorable Mention for their proposal for the international design competition Loft Boutique 2010, a residential tower in front of the Lima Golf Club in the San Isidro district. More to come…The interpretation of all parameters results in a geometry that covers all
important aspects of Loft Boutique, where the architecture itself leads to a
contemporary interpretation of cultural typology and context.
The typology of a building block with an inner courtyard or lightwell is
not the solution for Loft Boutique.
Rather than a concipated atrium, a stairway of lightwells, placed along
the east- and west facade provide all loft units with light, a possibility to
ventilate, and a vista on either the golf club or the ocean. The stepped positioning of each
„lightwell“ here, not only cannons light into the various apartments in
differentiated moments, but also generates loggias/balconies which will
increase living comfort dramatically.
Loft Boutique delivers apartment typlogies on a more finetuned base, rather
than a generic approach of stacked apartment lofts. All lofts, regardless of size and form, are equipped with a
modular system of kitchens and bathroom cells. In that way every resident may
enjoy the same high quality standard that Loft Boutique provides, in his or her
own personal experience, a „modular diversity“.
Aside the main design feature of the stepped terraces, incisions in the
east- and westfacade, functioning as gills, bring extra sunlight into the
darker zones, also granting views on the Lima Golf Club. These slits are a reinterpretation of
industrial shed roofs, applied on the closed facade in an inverted way, to pull
direct sunlight in. These
incisions collaborate with the inner organisation of the apartments as an
incorporated jewel case of Loft Boutique, a multifunctional element that
literally brings the Boutique straight into the Lofts.
