Loft Alcatraz is the result of a study performed to a small house space (29.7 m2/ 319.7 sqf), trying to eliminate the logical organization and the block type spaces. Loft Alcatraz tries to transform the housing spaces by doing a cross cut to a rectangle room, generating 2 triangles, resulting in visually wider spaces and attractive interior design expression.
The design concept is based on the Calla Lily flower/Alcatraz (Zantedeschia Aethiopica) because of its simplicity and elegance that inspires the polygonal form of this loft. A single petal interior provides simplicity and an interesting color palette (white, yellow and green), creating an open and beautiful space.
This is how Loft Alcatraz achieves a perfect ambiance: Thorough illumination that crafts textures with its flooring, walls and stairs and, all together, result on a delicate division between common and private spaces, without losing cadence in the reduced room area.
The main lamp, with pistil form, breeds a unique warm light source, with a yellow base, being a tribute to the late Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta (1931-2011) on his design “Casa en Japón”, same as a tribute to the Mexican muralist Diego Rivera with his master piece “Los Alcatraces” in the quest to exalt and honors Mexican architecture heritage.
