In Monthey’s Closillon residential district—steps from the CFF railway station and the town centre—the LoftArk apartment building enjoys a prime position on an open plot. Fifteen flats are spread over four storeys (including the ground floor) plus a setback attic level, arranged in three volumes linked by external circulation and raised above an underground car park. Each floor’s three apartments face different directions, avoiding mutual overlook, and are backed by the exposed-concrete shear walls of their respective volumes—surfaces that catch dramatic shadow play.
The palette of concrete and metal continues indoors: exposed concrete ceilings and the seismic load-bearing frame, whose inclined steel columns traverse the living spaces and rhythm the two glazed façades of every volume. This geometry lets each dwelling open onto a generous L-shaped outdoor area with views over the neighbourhood and the wide Alpine landscape.
