SEEDS
The Dreamscape grew out of love for the Australian
landscape, and it’s place beneath the Southern sky,
An ancient connection that extends into a deeper time
register; Australia’s is the world’s oldest continuous religious tradition –
looking through the lens of cosmic time, we see that we all came from these
stars… the Milky Way is a dream painting, snaking across our sky;
For eons this landscape has watched
The endless ballet of the night,
The ebb and flow of the constellations
A poetic evocation of collective memory,
And a history only spoken of
Formed during Dreamtime by the journey of the Rainbow Serpent,
the Dreamscape is a unique and spiritual place, both ancient and modern, and
for all of mankind.
The duality of eternity and contemporaneousness is
expressed in a purist design that emphasizes the organic nature of the ancients
versus the orthogonal nature of modernity, with occasional synthesis of the two
in special places where they meet.
From this land we embrace the future with a shared spirit
of wide-eyed optimism. Just over the horizon it lies. After the regenerating
rain we see the spirit of the Serpent in the sky, as a Rainbow within the earth...
A
PRACTICAL MAGIC
The Lodge requires a high degree of transparency, access
and security. The core of the Dreamscape is a public park that bisects the
scheme into eastern and western hemispheres, (east being the Public/VIP and
Ceremonial, whereas west is Private and Administrative). There is a high degree
of functional valency between the zones depending on events.
The main feature of the park is the Rainbow Serpent’s
journey from its source (the sun) that meanders and forms the carved landscape
dropping into a hole and eventually into the lake at art gallery’s courtyard; a
spectacular waterfall. The watercourse is a seasonal one, allowing for
rainwater collection and retention during wet season, and a trafficable surface
during the dry season, emphasizing a sense of place.
THE
PRIME MINISTER’S HOME
This phenomenological connection fuels a deeper dialogue.
Our bodies are on temporary loan, made from stardust in a cosmic exchange we do
not understand. Our homes need to be more permanent however – keeping the
elements at bay, and in balance for the future.
One day soon
We will all dream the same dream
Share a new dawn
In a magical place
That the leader of this great nation can call home.
