The Plumbers Union wanted a parking structure that could boost attendance at their events.
However, they also saw an opportunity to create an amenity for the growing Fulton Market
neighborhood, offsetting the glut of parking spaces taken up by construction workers.
The resulting mixed-use parking and amenity deck, OKW looked to the site itself for
inspiration: its historic, existing, and future buildings. These components guided the design
for how this new project can harmoniously add to the future Local 130 campus. The resulting
vision uses large cutouts and planters to give the structure a residential feel, uniting it with
its surroundings.
Finished in 2022, the structure houses 600 parking spots, 36 spaces for bikes, at-grade
retail opportunities, and amenities for the Plumbers Union. With this structure in place, it
could incentivize the City to continue pedestrianizing neighborhood streets to create a more
walkable experience in Fulton Market.
