Llano de la fuente, is an elongated public square, that mimicks the meandering character of the river surrounding the village of Castro del Río, in southern Spain. The square has been designed thoroughly in order to maximize water infiltration on site by directing the stormwater runoff to the planting beds. Located in a semi-arid environment, the system so designed maximizes the water available to the vegetation and drains the excess of water that may happens in extreme storm events.
Lastly, the project includes a ground-fountain, that provide a playful feature for the young, and help cooling the atmosphere in hot summer days.
