The ultimate purpose was to create a contemporary home that would be lived and enjoyed in a very traditional way, surrounded by friends and family.
Energy flow was fundamental. With the hacienda as a primeval concept, the architecture was laid following a series of harmonic principles which would determine not only the floor layout but the materiality of each space. Feng shui criteria were therefore implanted into the home in various ways such as an entry dressed with an andalusian inspired fountain that connects to a patio where a Magnolia tree redirects the inhabitant towards a stair framed by a metallic ribbon, or towards the living room enclosed by a wooden box that conceals the bar. To the end of the dwelling, a fire pit completes the circle of elements that ensures the harmonious home.
The idea was for every room to connect with each other the way old haciendas do. The relation with the exterior became important given the fact that the house could rejoice from magnificent views, as well as a seamless transition from the patio into every social space. This, along with generous heights, large windows, and symmetry, provided a dynamism between spaces that reassured the interpretation of a hacienda.
Ultimately, familiarity and uniqueness were achieved through pairing antiques with contemporary design that in turn contributed to conceive sophisticated atmospheres that would maintain the personality the clients wanted to reflect with the home they would share with their friends and family, creating a kaleidoscope of experiences.
