The
international competition required the planning of four building
complexes in four different areas situated in the outskirts of Milan.
The
four projects had to focus
on social housing: it was essential to plan very flexible dwellings
for different kinds of inhabitants and purposes, and it was
interesting to include in the project a possible evolution of these
dwellings during the time.
Besides,
two different kind of services had to be included: those accessible
only by the inhabitants of the new complexes (laundry, common rooms,
social and cultural associations) and those useful to the inhabitants
of the surrounding neighborhood (supermarket, after school,
conference).
My
role in the planning process involved a six-people team composed by
two other students and three architects: this gave me substantial
team-work experience.
