This project reflects an idea of housing in a dense city structure of Lisbon that was formed for centuries. The proposal is intended to bend the rules of a closed residential block and create a new structure that allows people to get into the courtyard and discover spaces throughout the certain spectrum of privacy. It’s extremely important to take into consideration seismic intensity in the region and natural slope of the area. The site Campo Pequeno is situated near the existing railway link connecting the city centre with the Oriente Station. The railroad might be enclosed in a tunnel thus creating a slope with eight metres difference in height across the site.
The proposed housing block encapsulates an idea of continuos residential buildings. Continuity creates a spectrum of spaces from public to semi-private and fully private. Kindergarten and other public facilities are also included in the complex and form spaces that have different degree of privacy. Landscape as a tool to organise spaces plays the great role here. The main parking infrastructure is located under the ground thus following the slope with two entrances from eastern and western sides.
All the blocks mostly can accommodate apartments that in turn have been developed according to sizes types XL, L, M. while upper levels are all dedicated to penthouses with views towards the city. Each staircase has its own plan configuration and colour in order to help people recognize right entrance when necessary.
