LinX Student Lounge, Humber Institite

Formerly an industrial student workshop, the challenge was to covert the expansive decrepit space compressed by a hovering low ceiling into a vibrant, multi-use student space programmed for a variety of functions and activities. Bortolotto’s creation of LinX’s new branding solution was the inspiration for the design of the new lounge, restaurant and pub. The branded environment is wholly integrated into the architecture and interior design through various means such as laser cut metal wall panels that effectively perform as way finding, signage and light fixtures. The LinX logo and colour palette are applied through-out the space. Reclaimed ground and polished concrete floors, laser cut panels, acrylic partitions, stainless steel, glass and drapery are used to add texture, colour and character in the spirit of the LinX brand.

The design of an enclosure for a new exterior patio is used to create a welcoming entrance by softening the corner of the old masonry building by creating a curved wood fence element that veers the patrons toward the main entrance.
