The Urgent Care Centre (UCC) is a facility which was added to the University Teaching Hospital Lewisham to improve its Primary Care and Accident and Emergency services.
Adjacent to the Heritage buildings that denote the Hospital’s main entrance, the new construction was in planar glass, metal panelling and deep overhanging eaves giving effective canopies to the door-ways. A new modular building clad in Euroclad Micro-rib panels was provided to replace part of the old ‘workhouse’ and accommodate the displaced pediatrics’ department. A new ‘blue light’ entrance and a public main entrance was provided at each end of a new ‘mall’ to give access to A&E, UCC and Outpatients.
