How can a 1989 office building be renovated into an apartment building in a neighborhood lacking character in Brussels periphery and answer tomorrow’s climate challenges?
To achieve this the existing building grew on each side to restructure the block. The first floor was reduced to connect it to the wood at the rear of the site.
The building envelope was completely insulated while opening up the whole South facades with glazing. These are highlighted by Wooden balconies running along their entire length, creating a unique look in the neighborhood. The project achieves the passive standard and is an “exemplary building”.
