The new Museum dedicated to the Genius Leonardo Da Vinci has been opened In the heart of the historical centre in Florence, close to the Duomo: an interactive place that gives the visitor the possibility to interact with the inspiration and the creativity of the famous Tuscan painter and scientist.
Inside there are many reconstructions of the most important machines took from the Vinci codexes and realized in huge dimensions by W.M.A. - WorldWide Museum Activities staff with rigor and precision.
The museum’s entrance, used also as bookshop, has been projected by Giraldi Associates Architects, who has given a fresh and modern essence to the space, finding a perfect connection with the small historical models linked to the Renaissance period.
Going inside the bookshop we are thrown in a new dimension: a contrast between white and black that sends back to the opposition between present and past, turning out to find a re-union with the Vitruvian Man realized on a plexiglass panel and lighted with white LED.
The cross-section between this two pasts is reinterpreted by the architectural studio, through the diagonal line in the frontal wall located behind the cash register which has the function of mirror between the two parallel walls: on the black panel we can read phrases took from books and reproduced with the specular handwriting – from right to left. This writing is understandable only through a mirror and for this reason the same text is on the white wall with a right-handed handwriting. Both the penning have been hand-painted as well the drawings of the parachute and the tank located

on the black panel. This one has also the function to give the visitor the preview: when he crosses the wall with the white LED, he goes inside the museum where some machines made of wood are lighted in the obscurity of the space.
The bookshop’s furniture are made of white varnished wood, showcases and glass shelves lighted with white LED, instead the coat hanger, which recalls the circle’s frame of the Vitruvian man, has been realized in steal.
At the ceiling a big wing, produced by Leonardo on the occasion of his studies about the flight, covers some white recessed spotlights.
The perfect harmony among science, technology and design makes this museum the ideal habitat for the works realized by the talented Master that with his inventiveness and geniality has put the bases for the transformation of modus vivendi of modern society.
