The and place to its interior design. The store is located in an old fisherman hangar that was renovated as a part of the renewal of the Jaffa port area, and became a commercial structure.
The hangar itself is located near a breakwater and a yachts' marina and accordingly it is based on a very large concrete surface. Our idea was to continue this concrete surface into the store interior. Accordingly, the store's floor and the store's counter were created as a one monolith of concrete that is connected to the outdoor area and to the marina and the breakwater.
The other components in the store - the upper dining area and the kitchen area, were built of rough materials.
The gallery
The gallery is located above the sales area. Stairs lead to the gallery, accompanied by a wall with graphics related to the subject of ice cream. When you get upstairs there are seesaws that add to a light and humorous experience appropriate for ice cream and yogurt. The gallery was built of treading metal chains. The floors were built of OSB boards reminiscent of the crates of goods arriving at the port. From the gallery you can look to the bottom sales area and out at the sea.
The ground floor
The design line of the sales area on the ground floor, is relatively clean thus the ice cream and yogurt get their place and are prominent on the clear background of the sales counters.
The store's ceiling remained revealed and exposes the ceiling of the hangar and accordingly all the systems undergo in the ceiling are exposed.
The seating chairs correspond with the industrialized materials scattered in the store, and accordingly we selected metal chairs that were painted in colors related to the brand. Because of the general structure of the store relative to the hangar, a glass elevator is located inside the store, connecting between the rest of the trading areas of the building. We made sure to leave it exposed so that people who come from the outside into the building will be exposed to the store and will be invited to enter it.
