A large-scale conceptual redevelopment of a commercial area, not far from schools and parks, Legacy Village seeks to integrate diversity of uses, and foster community relationships through the density and walkability of the design. While the program requirements limited building height, I expanded horizontal variation and subterranean use. This allowed me to create an urban canyon-like arrangement of structures, with variations in massing. One of the program challenges involved accommodating automobiles for existing and proposed project increases. I chose to integrate on-street parking by revamping the street network, and creating an extensive underground parking and loading area. Materials were chosen, largely white tiles and durable cladding and stone, to elevate tighter spaces and infuse diverse sound and gradient light.
