This project was one of California's first LEED Platinum homes and responds to the owners’ desire to return to a simple life and small environmental footprint. Its' historically influenced design belies its use of innovative, non-traditional technology, materials and systems. With water being the single most precious resource on the planet, we created an innovative water reclamation system for the home. This was unheard of in a single-family residence back in 2011, but by working closely with the Palo Alto Planning and Engineering staff we were able to meet our client’s water conservation goals. Several members of the city's Planning and Engineering staff toured the project to see the new system in place, ultimately giving them a high level of comfort for using similar systems on future projects.
