The large increase in the number of pupils has led the town of Prilly to complete the existing primary school of the neighborhood by edifying, distant a hundred meters, a building of four classes implanted on a 1600m2 parcel, at the angle of the “avenue de la Rapille” and the “chemin de Sous-Mont”. This new school is destined to shelter the kindergarten classes of the neighborhood.
Given its implementation at the limit of the construction southeast of the parcel, and given its composition with the shelter, the new school affirms its main access on the “avenue de la Rapille” and gives space to the covered playground, an exterior privileged space, oriented towards the lake, secure, far from the roads of the neighborhood. A special care was given to the conservation of green spaces and pre-existing vegetation; identity of the created place.
The volume of the school, on two levels, is characterized by a simple and pure geometry. The plan is characterized, northeast, by a nutshell perceived like a ludic box, gathering the bathrooms, locker rooms, service premises, and southeast, by the classes which all benefit from the view on the lake.
