LeanToo is a renovation/addition project built in urban Austin, Texas. We aspired for the addition to have a dialogue with many things including the context of the neighborhood, the existing 900 s.f. cottage, the mature oak trees on the site, and the needs of our clients. The diagram of the project follows the idea of terraces that introduce you before entering and then follow throughout the design. Natural light from both large and small strategic windows allow for the home to have multiple experiences. Our desire was to have rich materials, which we feel we accomplished by using site found and hardy materials which allowed for low maintenance, textural interest, and investment in the material longevity.
