The project is located at the foot of a steep cliff within the Longqiyuan Scenic Area in Wenzhou. There is a stream flowing beside it, and the surrounding area is surrounded by vegetation. Out of understanding and respect for the local environment, we used local natural stones and recyclable steel to construct this small public toilet.Large pebbles from the nearby stream are used to build the foundation instead of a concrete foundation. Smaller pebbles are used to build arc-shaped walls, which are hidden among the trees and the cliff. The upper part of the building is elevated, and a polycarbonate panel roof is supported by a steel structure to increase daylighting and maintain air circulation. The roof is designed in the shape of a leaf. Its natural arc sets off the building against the backdrop of the original mountain forest, imitating the common structural forms and color variations in nature, just like an insect.
The raised ground allows wastewater to naturally flow through the drainage pipes into the water purification facilities in the distance and finally return to the mountain forest. The entire design enables the natural circulation of air, water, and materials, effectively responding to the local traditional culture and materials, and integrating the building into the overall local scenery. At the same time, we follow the concept of sustainable architecture, reducing the building's impact on the environment and protecting the local natural resources and ecological environment.
