Located at the heart of the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, the place is entirely recognized as a World Heritage Site.
At the chef's request, the interior design project offers three distinctive atmospheres : a comfortable bench seating area, a friendly counter space and more classical clothed tables. In the space surrounding the Opéra, the symbolical wall is used as a trigger to generate alternative space within the outline of the noteworthy 18th century architecture.
In order not to directly impact the original building, the monolith's structure has been designed as completely independent from it. A play on theatrical allegory, the wall's texture is handmade in the same shades as the 19th century scenery curated by the architect Burget in 1854.
Specific scenes are revealed between the columns : white granite benches and tables under the lights of a lamp bank, a theatrical area to define the entrance, kitchen access and serving hatch concealed under the new volume.
Echoing traditional brasseries thanks to the long cast tin counter, the bar is harmonized with the place thanks to the brushed brass sheets.
The new volumes generates voids around the columns, revealing new perspectives and new walk paths, bringing rhythm and framing views to fully appreciate the space.
