LOCATION: Paris, France. It is an exhibition project for a trade fair in Paris "Maison & Object". This project is devided in 2 parts by the participants exhibiting in 2 different halls.
CLIENT: designers from Lithuania, united into a Lithuanian Design Block, which are the participants of a trade fair "Maison & Object". Their works range from the furniture to a jewelery pieces. They represent a variety of styles: ranging from something alike scandinavian minimalism to more experimental design using a lot of culours and exploring and mixing the bundaries of art and design.
TASK: the main purpose of this trade stand is to promote the works of the designers in order to get more business contracts and export agreements, to sell the products for retailers and wholesalers from all over the world.
CONCEPT: the concept is built on the narrative. With the help of this narrative all the exhibits are united into the whole, so they do not look incoherent and random.
NARRATIVE: "Layers of Lithuanian design". Lithuanian design is multilayered, and the diversity of participants designs shows it. Layers presented as layers of wood, that leads to a second meaning - presentation of Lithuania as a country rich of forests and trees.
The stand is constructed in such a way, that the exhibited thing are not clearly seen. This creates an atmosphere of a mystery. The idea of stand is concentrated on the curiosity of the visitors. The second part of the narrative shows Lithuanian design block as a block, a such structure.
Stand is a bit mysterious not only from the outside, but also in the inside part, because part ot the exhibited designs are placed in the "forest of layers" (wooden girders). The acquintance of a visitor is wraped in a playful experience, where every object of the exhibition tells a story. Every visitor is given a map of this exhibition where every object is listed and tells its story.
The stand creates an intrigue that invites a visitor to enter the stand, but later on the whole aaccent is put on the exhibited objects, that are invited to find as if a kind of treasure.
