The new Chapel of Rest is the center of the expanded Cemetery in Hörbranz in the 80ies. The front yard is surrounded by a one-floor high hall and an elongated sitting bench connected with a fountain. The old weeping willow creates an oasis full of shade and tranquillity. The only light that is shed in the Chapel comes from a sole narrow overhead light emphasizing the continuous horizontal wood structure of the white-glazed lightweight concrete walls. It continues in the rough sawn oak-wood casing in the entrance area. A likewise newly put up earth-coloured tamped concrete wall creates here an end to the cemetery where it neighbours an elementary school at the same time serving as a flood protection.
