A subdued color palate coupled with clean and legible lines create a modern and refined dining experience in Tala American Bistro, a cozy and intimate restaurant located in Latham, NY.
The dining area occupies a long and narrow space within a newly constructed Salon and Spa building. The limited space called for creative architectural solutions in order to manage the circulation, seating and serving aspects of a busy bistro.
There is no hiding the fact that the space is small and storage and program is at a premium. This is celebrated through the framing and display of the back of house operations through the kitchen pass-thru and the encouragement of social interaction through intimate seating.
A parametrically-designed acoustic ceiling treatment was designed and installed by Zackery Belanger. This installation was designed to negotiate the fire suppression, HVAC and lighting systems.
A custom designed, 12' tall 500-bottle wine case serves as the center piece of the restaurant, but also performs double duty as both a way to store wine and also manage patron circulation.
