The project for the new arts center in Lanzhou is part of a new urban proposal for the redevelopment of the city's waterfront. The building, in the new urban context, should stimulate, promote and support the local artistic creation. The concept behind the project seeks to promote a particularly strong relationship with the river and the surrounding green area where, driven by the specificity of this type of building, it was decided to create a formal solution in three volumes, deployed alongside the river, characterized by large horizontal openings and the creation of several pedestrian and visual crossings, contradicting the typical solution of a massive block, closed in on itself, which would become a sensory barrier of the whole. These options seek to dilute the paradigm of "inside and outside", and calling the user to approach the phenomenon of artistic creation, assuming itself formally as part of a journey and not a point of arrival. The program, as mentioned above is divided into three blocks: Block 1 - Administrative services, workshops and temporary exhibition area; Block 2 - Permanent exhibition area and auditorium, Block 3 - Bookshop, media center, library, workshops and restaurant.
