Sited in the Castle’s dendrological park the installation is inspired by the former library of the Teleki Family. The baroque Castle was owned by Samuel Teleki, the founder of the first public Library from the territory consisting present day Romania. The goal was to recreate the pleasure of reading by the floor lamp in the picturesque garden. Thus we created a reading nest sheltered under a light canvas canopy. Although the proposal is a big art installation the aim was to give it a domestic feel, by playing with the scale of familiar objects. Thus the oversize lamp is balanced at the bottom by a book shelf and an inviting backrest. One takes a book, takes a sit and triggers the light via the porcelain pendant. The light source is pointed towards the lampshade for a soft, indirect illumination of the reading nest.
Lampnest found its place by the garden`s lake, in a tranquil atmosphere, with the soft sound of a spring nearby making the visitor stop and take in the silence while reading. It is also a landmark for the garden and a meeting point for the event.
