Located in the fields of Southern Ontario, sits a modern farmhouse. The form takes influence from the gradual slopes that the surrounding landscape forms. Tiered levels offer optimal views of the exterior, where large windows are placed to allow for natural light to enter many sides of each space within. The exterior materiality is inspired by the natural aesthetic of the site, using white metal cladding accentuates the wood panels on the exterior of the home. Using white cladding on the majority of the first floor creates a podium-like design for the second floor, blending the landscape into the architecture. The palette within creates a bright and inviting relationship between the interior and exterior, using light wood and whites to connect with the natural exterior cladding.
