I´ve lived in Bogota, my hometown, my entire life. This city, like many developing third world cities, full of contrasts, contradictions and lessons, has been my place of learning. From Bogotá I understand and see the world. The streets, the people, the mountains, the skies and clouds of this city have been the ingredients for my architectural proposals. The light in Bogota is spectacularly diverse, never the same and in my projects I always seek to enhance it through different architectural strategies.
t’s a small-scale project that contains two independent yet complimentary activities: an artist’s studio and a cultural space. It is located in a low-density neighborhood that is currently undergoing transformation: Chapinero Alto. This building, in its 590 m2, represents, for my studio, an important example of handling the ingredients offered by this special place in the Andes Mountains in an architectural exercise.
The project was selected for this year’s Colombian Architecture Biennial, and since it’s doors first opened in 2014, it has hosted over twenty diverse cultural events such as art shows, workshops for children and adults, and concerts.
