A space full of innovation and poetry: fashion-wise as well as architectonically, the new lala Berlin flagship store combines intricate details with cubist shapes and clear-cut lines. Covering an area of more than 120 m2 in Berlin Mitte (Alte Schönhauser Str. 3) all the lala Berlin collections as well as handpicked accessories from compatible designers are available here.
The architectural concept was created by Amir Abadi (NEOPLAN A.O.). He not only developed the flagship store for lala Berlin but has also been responsible for the stage sets at numerous fashion shows for the label. The architect has built up a feel for the spatial style of the label over many years, enabling him to transform it into an architectural vision. Since 1990 Abadi has been developing architectonic concepts for clients like Issey Miyake, Kaviar Gauche, Malcolm McLaren and the Bread&Butter.
In his first flagship store for lala Berlin Abadi has created a world full of apparent contradictions: raw concrete combined with dark timbers, shining brass and sleek black cubist blocks create contrasts that together create a rare harmony. A presentation highlight on the sales floor is the filigree eleven-metre-long brass object Hanging Art, on which the lala Berlin collections hang as though on a line of music. The changing rooms, as well as the backrooms were constructed as solid, ingeniously folded Black Diamonds, setting dark futuristic counterpoints to the airy spacious overall concept.
The interior of the flagship store is a spatial and haptic extension of the lala Berlin philosophy: lala Berlin has been representing the anarchic and ephemeral metropolis chic of Berlin with its unconventional yet elegant feminine collections since 2004. On the international fashion stage the label has become a synonym for Berlin style.
