This large new-build villa above Lago maggiore in Italy enjoys a naturalistic garden stretching over a steep rocky terrain with arresting views of the Swiss Alps.
We designed the garden masterplan as the house was built, culminating in planting 20,000 plants over 2 weeks in late spring.
An infinity swimming pool in the back patio leads into a sinuous path, winding via a richness of wildlife-friendly vegetations.
Demarcating the entrance steps, a Crape Myrtle tree announces the house, along aromatic herbs in a sloping raised bed.
3 Crape Myrtles line the path towards the parking, with a majestic Rhus pivoting the seating area opposite the front door.
A fragrant Osmanthus frames the lake vista, forming part of a series of raised beds which enables planting in the entrance being a roof garden above the parking garage.
Key planting includes Cornus, Davidia, Deutzia, fruit trees, Ginkgo, grasses, Hamamelis, Hazels, herbs, Jasmine, Lagerstroemia, Lavatera, Magnolia, Maples, Rhus & Viburnum.
