This private weekend house in the Hudson Valley is immersed in a dense pine tree forest and overlooks Greenwood lake. The client commissioned us to do full gut renovation of an existing one-story house and expand the home with an additional level. On the ground level, the client wanted a central and open space for cooking and entertainment. The existing location of the living room and concrete fireplace were maintained, while the kitchen was extended toward the outdoors. To create multiple gastronomic zones, we designed a clear visual connection from the kitchen inside the home toward an outdoor grill and firepit. The second story accommodates two bedrooms, a home theater and a terrace. The facade is fabricated from local pine wood and the non-uniform size and shape of every window provides multiple and distinct perspectives of the surrounding pine tree forest.
