Located in the DeVinne Press Building at 399 Lafayette Street, Lafayette Alternative High School specializes in behavior modification techniques for students in grades nine through twelve. The fundamental purpose of the school is to provide an academic environment that is designed to nurture the emotional and social growth of each student so that he/she may become a contributing member of society. To achieve this purpose, the school will provide a comprehensive program that incorporates academic instruction, the arts, vocational training, psychological counseling and a work study program.The design references the integration of traditional education values merged with an innovative approach to academics. Through the redefinition of traditional school design as well as the buildings original components, the design reinvents the structures original grand staircase while referencing the authentic factory aesthetics employed in the press building.
