Nestled within a historic building in the heart of Mexico City, this restaurant and tavern project brings the allure of Spain to this vibrant metropolis. The design aims to preserve the building's materials and appearance while infusing it with details and furnishings that transport patrons to an authentic Spanish dining experience. The space is divided into three distinct areas: a cozy tavern serving tapas and charcuterie, reminiscent of the inviting bars found throughout Spanish cities; a main dining room with vaulted ceilings and indirect lighting, adorned with wine displays on the walls and a central bullhead emblem; and finally, a breathtaking terrace, utilizing the building's central patio and triple-height space to create the restaurant's favorite spot.
Upon entering the restaurant, guests are welcomed by a small, warm tavern. Here, the ambiance exudes the charm of Spanish bars, with rustic plaster walls and old fashioned tiles showcasing an array of Spanish wines, liquors and traditional charcuterie hanging from the ceiling. Designed to be a standing bar, only a few wooden stools accompany the space, ideal for sharing tapas and good moments.
Moving from the tavern, visitors step into the main dining room, where the enchanting ambiance captures the essence of a traditional Spanish restaurant. The vaulted ceiling room is enhanced by concealed indirect lighting, casting a soft, warm glow throughout the space. In homage to Spanish viticulture, wine displays along the walls while at the center of the room, a magnificent bullhead sculpture stands proudly, symbolizing strength, tradition, and the passion of Spanish culture.
The restaurant's iconic space is its captivating terrace, artfully integrated into the building's central patio. The triple-height space imparts a feeling of expansiveness and grandeur, reminiscent of the charm found in Spanish plazas. Abundant greenery elegantly adorns the tables, creating a serene oasis amidst the lively urban ambiance.
