Naxos is an island with intense relief and mountains that offer unique panoramic views. “La punta” villa is located at a plot on the slope of one of the mountains, at a point where the view opens west towards the Aegean. The architectural concept of the building is inspired from the characteristic Cycladic squares – small buildings surrounding a small yard. The need for protection from the island’s strong winds and sun along with its traditional cycladic style, compose a mixture of small volumes scattered on a steep slope. The use of simple materials such as stone and plaster on thick masonry, fills the need for providing both a bioclimatic design and a local architectural identity. Staying in the villa combines the introversion of enclosed spaces with the seamless outdoor use and the panoramic view of the Aegean.
