The lot measures 1208 m2 on a corner and is at 9 meters
below street level. The house was
designed in an “L” shape to take full advantage of the views and enclose the
garden to make it more private.
To emphasize the corner, access was planned under the
intersection of two volumes. The main vestibule is designed with double height
and is the hinge uniting two bodies. It has an elliptical shape at the ground that is also
reflected in the elevations.
The vestibule has an opening with corner glass with a view
out to the garden and the exterior terrace through a water mirror with three
streams of water.
Issuing from this space is a slab with dry-point finish
which simulates a sheet of paper that is connected with the upper level stone and
wraps around the stairway. From the left at 1.5 meters under the vestibule
there is a living room with a fir wood beam soffit which lends texture to the
roof. From the living room one
goes down via a sculpted stairway that is illuminated aerially. It is bordered
by a stone bench that also acts as a backing for the living room and a wall of
marble slabs in a flat cream color.
It goes on to a theatre room which is entered via a large door measuring
4.5 meters tall by 1.8 covered with calfskin.
The floors in this space, as well as in the living room and
the stairway are made of Kab wood to contrast with the marble wall and the
other walls that have a thin, white-colored, smooth finish. To one side of the door there is access
to the cellar which has oak furniture and floors finished in bottle cork with
oak borders.
To the right are the dining room and the breakfast room
which have sliding wooden doors which are hidden inside the walls to make a
connection to the terraces with a view out to the garden. The kitchen is linked to these spaces by
means of a pantry.
On the upper level the stairway goes to the TV room. On the left this is joined to the master
bedroom and dressing room with a bridge. The bedroom has a teak wood terrace and a glass banister that
looks out onto the garden.
To the right of the stairway there are two bedrooms with
their own bathroom and dressing room and a small study in the center. All the furniture in the bedroom area is made of Tzalam wood
as a contrast to the Kab wood floors and the fine white smooth coat continues
on the walls.
