The architects from Atelier Ar-Chè have created "La Prairie" ("The Meadow Field"), an installation of uncanny, dreamlike vegetation on the Defense Esplanade.
In such a concrete-filled, urban context, orange poles sway over the Esplanade, evoking an otherworldly meadow. These 1700 sticks spread over 2,400 square meters, create a thin, mobile fleece over the existing ground that responds to the wind and other natural elements, thus transforming the landscape.
While walking along the central path of "La Prairie", the orange sticks' kinetic effects conjure images of fields and lines of vineyards. As the wanderer dives into it, the path follows the undulations of the sticks whose changing thickness now hide, now unveil the way.
Children as well as adults can a tactile and spatial discovery of this installation on their own.
