Located in one of the most important avenues in Guadalajara, Mexico. La Mexico is born through the study and analysis of a previous program, which was a night club, and re-adapt it into a restaurant.
La Mexico is based on the research and experimentation with typical construction materials, such as concrete blocks, wooden decks, bricks and steel, this is so we can generate an un-processed and natural architecture. The previous space was a closed indoor area with no windows or natural lighting, we inverted and liberated it so we could create an exchange between the user and the context.
The project begins with it´s facade of concrete block without any kind of coating, surrounded by green areas. On its inside, the rusted steel beams and columns, pine-tree wooden deck, bricks and a jalousie, which gives natural light and ventilation to the inside of the restaurant.
In the heart of the restaurant, the jalousie generates shadows and movement at sunset. A retractable roof opens itself to bring the user closer to a typical mexican space with a central patio.
