This vacation home is located on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River in the Charlevoix region, about 100 km from Quebec City. Clients wanted to live in a place where they could come into contact with the natural spaces and open landscapes on the river that characterize this region.
The house is located at the edge of the wooded area of the site, where the presence of the cliff provides a 180 degree panorama on the river landscape. The house is composed of two simple volumes: the first, which are the heart of the building, houses all the functional components of the house, while the second is created by an "extrusion" of the first. This largely glazed section welcomes the living spaces of the house, in constant contact with the majestic landscape of the St. Lawrence River.
Above, a roof terrace covers the entire surface of the second volume and becomes a true "ship deck". This terrace offers the inhabitants of the house a privileged point of view to observe from afar the many ships that crisscross the river and sometimes even the whales which reach this location.
