A PLACE OF MEMORY
On a site in the suburbs of Casablanca at the beginning of urbanization, The project of "La Maison de l'Image" is an exercise which poses a series of stakes: First, the integration into a singular site carrying a great story, a site whose toponymy stems from the story of a man: "Lhaj Bouazza", and a building: the "Kasbah", a building at the same time bearer and witness of history, a place of memory. Then, it should be considered that this desire for a "historic" architecture must be part of a cultural perspective, the world of the image, carried by the former owner, M.Gabriel Veyre, director-operator Light and French photographer close to the sultan. Finally, this building must ensure, by its character, the mission conferred on it, namely the promotion of the image of the region and consequently the economic, social and cultural valorization thereof. CONCEPT The kasbah district square geometric plan demonstrates a desire to master nature. The iconicity of the geometric form evokes strength and stability in relation to this not yet urbanized nature. It is also a landmark visible from the road and gives an impression of modernity. The enclosure of the kasbah is habitable, it follows the ground and thus allows to take advantage of the maximum of the site, the patio becomes a real space of life. From the outside, the Kasbah district gives the impression of unity, a whole, a community, it makes you want to cross it. As in the medina, the different volumes are similar, they do not reveal their beauty, but once inside, we have an effect of surprise. The master plan is made of PATIOS, different sizes, and assignments, a hymn to this space where all the activity is going on around.
