LA LOGE, UNE MAISON IVRE

The project follows the current trend of transforming a duplex into a cottage, and adds an extension in the backyard.
The client’s order was clear: create a place designed for celebrations and other good times with friends. With a nod to the theatre, the house lets its residents’ lifestyle take centre stage. The backyard is the stage, and alludes to the façade of a loggia. To see without being seen, or to see and be seen: you have the choice.
Just like the neighbouring homes, here the rear wall is composed by a volume of white colour. The heart of the façade stands out through the use of dark-coloured, but lightweight, facing, which frames large glass windows whose transparency is filtered by horizontal blinds. Black wood fills the space, both indoors and outside.

LA LOGE, UNE MAISON IVRE

Le projet s’inscrit dans le mouvement actuel des transformations de duplex en cottage incluant un agrandissement en cour arrière.
La commande était claire : créer un lieu où la fête serait omniprésente, où l’espace serait propice aux rencontres entre amis et aux festivités. À la manière d’un théâtre, la typologie de l’habitation a été établie de manière à mettre en scène le mode de vie de ses habitants. La cour arrière fait office de scène et la façade de loggia. Elle permet autant de voir sans être vu que de voir et d’être vu; c’est selon.
Telles ses voisines, la façade arrière est composée d’un volume de couleur blanche. Le cœur de la façade se différencie par l’utilisation d’un parement léger de couleur sombre, qui encadre de grandes baies vitrées dont la transparence est filtrée par les persiennes horizontales. Le bois noir habite l’espace, autant à l’intérieur qu’à l’extérieur.
