A composition of glass curtain wall, masonry-colored rain panels, and a varied pattern of individual windows provides a lively presence to this home for 105 students in the heart of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. UrbanWorks developed the unique program with community-based developer, The Resurrection Project, to provide a subsidized college residential experience for Hispanic students who cannot afford to live at nearby universities. The six-story, 33,000-square-foot building incorporates commercial space and offices for the Instituto del Progresso Latino, a partner organization. Student facilities include kitchens, laundry, a computer lounge, and administrative offices.
