La casa di Gioia is Apulian in all its essence. Surrounded by uncontaminated nature, it narrates Apulia by the details of its unique architecture. The sign of man can be seen but it is balanced within the thrilling landscape. At the base of the restoration work on a building, built one hundred years ago, there is the desire to confirm the balance between man and nature, resetting the past and stressing every new input, always using southern Italian rural elements. Two volumes are skillfully positioned within the property. In fact, the two buildings are located at the point in which the view of the Gulf of Taranto opens up. The presence of a small ravine creates a depression on which the rural house stands. To complete the design of the rural and man-made landscape, in addition to the dry stone walls and terraces, there is a threshing floor made of hand-hewn stone blocks that create a stone carpet which is the most favorable point to observe the degradation of the hill towards the sea. The restoration has fully preserved the volume and the facade of the buildings, trying to make the indoor space more comfortable and accessible to the needs of the new family who will live in it, while respecting the logical floor plan of the original structure.
