La Capital was conceived as a transition point between La Macroplaza and Parque Fundidora, through the Paseo Santa Lucia, as an integral part of the urban regeneration that has been detonated in the area in recent years.
The complex of 29 levels is in one of the most privileged areas of Paseo Santa Lucia and it has been oriented to maintain the important visuals to Rio Santa Catarina, the Sierra Madre, including the cityscape of the metropolitan area, La Macroplaza and Fundidora Park.
We wanted to achieve a mixed-use complex with apartments and shops that will take advantage of its location and work as a rallying point for walkers, with a plaza, retail shops and an important integration with the pedestrian path and at the same time we wanted to invite the inhabitants of the resort to go out for a walk, play sports or any outside activities.
It was also suggested that we needed the complex to be protected from the exposure to the sun , so we made a composition of volumes that provoke projected shadow from a vertical volume to some of the housing , the commercial area , the outer square and privative amenities that are allocated on roofs , the location of these amenities helps to minimize the building footprint and maximize outdoor common areas , making better use of land and integration with the river walk, where the concept of the two towers separate the areas of different densities and levels creating a feeling of being in different places within the same site .
All this strategic approach allowed the outside plaza to function as an active civic center for the Paseo Santa Lucia and a node to link and create a transition between the Macroplaza and Fundidora Park.
