Located on the Varoise coast and facing the Brégançon fort, the harbour master’s office in the port of La Londe Les Maures is perfectly positioned. The project, replacing the existing ageing and inappropriate port building, is organised around three levels, each operating independently from the others. The raised ground floor provides commercial (ticket office, distributor), associative (fishing club, diving club, yacht club) and public spaces (changing rooms, WC), all with large windows giving onto the port. The first floor contains a meeting room as well as a function room offering views over the landscape. It is surrounded by a generous deck providing peripheral access to the spaces. The second floor is a large reception terrace reached via an outdoor beacon-like staircase forming a column crowned by flags.
The architectural proposal is simple and reflects the approach taken by the agency: refined lines, rounded angles and noble materials such as wood and stainless steel. These make reference to the maritime environment while, quite purposefully, avoiding any boat-like metaphor.
