Founded in 1966, Kwong Lung is one of the largest down-cleaning factories in the world. To house their new R&D and logistics center, Kwong Lung built a green building that blends in with surrounding fields and has an expected lifespan of 40 years. Kwong Lung's commitment to the environment includes the use of circular inputs and ecofriendly energy systems. More than 90% of biological wastewater is recycled. Besides adhering to low-carbon, green standards, the building was designed to resemble the flowing lines of down feathers, giving it an aesthetic appeal.
Through the opportunity of new factory building project, our design concept is to reveal company's image via relationship between "light" and "heavy" outlook on the facade, where the “heavy” portion metaphors large and stable business of Kwong Lung, contrasts to the "light" portion implies the character of down.
While meeting the space demand of storage, office, R&D, exhibition and other purpose, the three-dimensional greening through the balconies, outdoor stairs and roof gardens creates a pleasant working environment and gives the modern factory a fresh image.
