The residence is illuminated by cool translucent glass panels and columns, warm Brazilian teak folding planes and a spectacular 19 foot long cowhide storage element to create a dramatic yet minimal home. The entry features a large Buddha in a simple empty space, making a transition from the city outside, physically, psychically, spiritually. The 'public' space of dining, living and kitchen focuses toward a wonderful view over the Hudson River that asks to be shared, appreciated with another. The palette is balanced, cool and warm, but subtle to allow an appreciation of the art and objects, furniture and lighting. The overall space is minimal with classic modern furniture punctuated by highly individualistic moments such as the dramatic cowhide storage unit, the playful Marimekko upholstered dressing room bench and the calm bust of the Buddha.
