KUFRA LOUNGE BAR is
a beach bar located inside the Oasi di Kufra Hotel in Sabaudia, it overlooks a
very beautiful beach with a view of the Mount Circeo,
whose outline, according to tradition, evokes the Witch Circe’s profile. In
fact this is the place where in the Odyssey it is told the witch’s incantations
have been Ulysses undoing, just landed at the Enea Isle.
A double spirit
location, related to day amusement on the beach and to polished nightlife,
which with masterly combines the pleasure of sea, well-being and a tidy and
efficient service. The architectural and functional space is characterized by a
refined decoration inspired by utilization of plaster in the Moroccan riads,
achieved through a complex frieze, repeated to infinity and without any
interruption, which becomes a tridimensional element that marks the space or pure
decorative element of the counter bar.
The place comprises
two inner areas where the lounge bar, the kitchen and a big corridor are
respectively located. The corridor is the only driveway to the beach where the
services for customers and a big terrace overlooking the beach are arranged.
The pre-existing
wooden roofing of terrace has been only modified about its finish and color and
now it is equipped with a new illumination.
The interior
completely looks onto the terrace and the beach, thanks to the big full-length
windows with lateral wrapping opening mechanism. They allow to see the counter
from the beach, enticing also the clients walking by who don’t stay at the
hotel. The macro protruding varnished wooden sign floats on a transparent
methacrylate with tridimensional blue engravings evoking the sea movement.
The minimal and
geometrically pure counter is made of corian Dupont, the glacier white solid
has been utilized for the worktop, while the glacier ice illumination series
has been utilized for the front. The white led highlights the backlit
decoration realized milling thickness of slabs, a technological and refined
tridimensional lace. The expositive windows are crystal parallelepipeds, light
elements contrasting with the bar counter’s white mass, hanging by a blue
marine corian skirting.
The materials have
been chosen and utilized not only for creating an architectural strongly
connoted space but also for withstanding sand’s wearing effect and brackish of
marine environment, like the Sabaudia one, with a quite aggressive microclimate
as the client many times has recommended.
The inner floor,
designed like a carpet, whose decoration is inspired by the drawings of
enameled Moroccan mosaics, has been realized with the opus series of blue and
white Venetian Bisazza enamel, 12x12 mm format. The drawings decoration, whose
geometrical composition is generated by symmetry and movement, is intended to
create optical illusions. The terrace overlooks the beach and has been paved
with Deck, a wood composite by Greenwood,
environmentally compatible material developed by the company for Venice’s piers. The
approach steps to the beach are in white Carrara
marble, while large blue slabs, made of crystallized ceramic, by Marazzi
Tecnica, have been utilized for the big admission corridor to the hotel’s
services, the only driveway to the beach.
The inner area’s
illumination has been realized with Weber Ducrè’s illuminant built-in bodies.
The service corridor is illuminated by ceiling equipped with fluorescent tubes
and Led courtesy lights of L&L. Outside decorated lanterns, made of
white-painted steel, create a dynamic shape and produce a very intimate and
suggestive atmosphere, thanks to their mellow light and to the different
installation dimensions. Permeability of lanterns, wanting in glasses,
emphasizes the perception of breath of the wind coming from the sea. Floor
built-in lamps, Juanita of Areas model, create luminous pitches in the green
areas and in the roofing structure.
The
big terrace’s pre-existing wooden roofing has been furnished in order to
receive customers according to its evolution during the day: breakfast, fast
snack or lunch, aperitif and dinner. This is possibile through different
typologies and aggregations: from social table to drawing of Kristalia made of
flat and white varnished aluminium alucompact structure with flood stools by
mobles 114, to tables and supernatural chairs and Albert by Moroso armchairs,
until aggregations more suitable for aperitif and realized with Tokyo pop of
Driade sofas, Albert di Moroso armchairs with Luxor tables of BF Sedie, with
structure made of painted pre-galvanised steel
and werzalit shelf.
